The short version: we do not keep track of your personal information. The only cookies that need your consent are Google Analytics cookies, and they are used for one thing: to see how much traffic this website gets and which pages are read. Nothing runs until you press "Accept all" or "Reject" in the cookie dialog.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Browsers also offer similar storage (local storage and session storage) that works the same way for the purposes of this policy. They are widely used to make websites work, or to give the website operator statistical information about visits.
2. How Do We Use Cookies?
We use two kinds of storage on this website:
- Necessary storage is set by the website itself. It keeps your cookie decision and a session flag for the homepage animation. It is never sent to anyone and contains nothing about you.
- Statistics cookies belong to Google Analytics. They let us count visits and see which pages are read. We use this only to understand website traffic. We do not use it to identify you, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with any other data.
There are no marketing or advertising cookies on this website, and no other third party sets cookies here.
3. What Cookies Do We Use?
Necessary Storage
These entries are essential for the basic operation of the website and are used on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and § 25(2) TDDDG. They cannot be switched off.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sa-consent | SwarmAttacker (local storage) | Stores your cookie decision so we do not ask again | 12 months |
| sa-intro | SwarmAttacker (session storage) | Remembers that the homepage intro animation has already played | Session |
| sa-lang | SwarmAttacker (cookie) | Remembers the language you chose in the language switcher | 12 months |
Statistics Cookies
These cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie dialog (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG). If you reject them, they are never set, and if you withdraw your consent later, we delete them from your browser.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) | Distinguishes one browser from another for traffic statistics | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) | Keeps the session state for the analytics property | 2 years |
4. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics
Google Analytics is loaded through Google Tag Manager. The provider of both is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Tag Manager itself does not store cookies and does not collect personal data; it only loads the Google Analytics tag.
The Google Tag Manager container starts with every Google Consent Mode signal set to "denied". In that state Google Analytics does not set cookies and does not assign you any persistent identifier. Only when you press "Accept all" (or enable Statistics under "Customize") is the "analytics_storage" signal set to "granted", and only then does Google Analytics start counting your visit.
More information on how Google handles data can be found in Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Your Choice Comes First
The cookie dialog appears on your first visit and blocks the page until you have made a decision. There is no "close" button and no way to continue browsing without pressing either "Accept all" or "Reject" (or saving a selection under "Customize"). Rejecting has no downside: every part of the website works exactly the same way.
You can change your decision at any time with the button below, which re-opens the cookie dialog. Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again.
Most web browsers also let you control or delete cookies through their settings. In addition, you can prevent data collection by Google Analytics in every website by installing Google's browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.
